Woman, 70, Arrested For ‘Trafficking L$1M Drugs’

Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Drug Squad, has confiscated Kush valued over L$1,000,000 during a targeted operation in the shantytown of West Point, outside Monrovia.
The drug raid followed a credible intelligence that the Agency received and promptly executed, which led to the arrest of a 70-year old woman.
In the preliminary findings, the confiscated substance was concealed in nine small mineral water bottles, owned by Suspect, Mrs. Lucy S. Morris, 70.
The suspect is currently undergoing investigation and processing. She will be forwarded to court for prosecution in accordance with the Amended Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of 2023.
The LDEA, has meanwhile, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks, and curbing the distribution of illicit substances.
The Agency continues to intensify operations in all parts of the country to ensure that those involved in the illegal drug trade are brought to justice.
The Agency has therefore, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug-related activities within their communities.
The LDEA has further warned that traffickers and distributors have adopted “new methods, including the use of motorcycles and tricycles (kekehs) to transport illicit substances in an attempt to evade law enforcement operations.
The Agency assures the public that it remains resolute in adapting countermeasures to intercept and dismantle such evolving criminal strategies.
