David S. Fayiah of the Police Support Unit (PSU) and also serving as the Commander of Zone -6, Depot-3 police station has been charged with murder and sent to jail. According to the charge sheets, on August 3, 2024, at about 8:00pm within the Banjor Gas Station Community, Commander Fayiah shot deceased Mohammed Manobah. Chapter 14; section 14.1 chapter 17; section 17.11, of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia, Zone -6 Police Commander Fayiah was arrested, reminded of his constitutional rights, investigated and subsequently charged with the crime of murder for purposely and knowingly shooting to death of 19 years old deceased Manobah on the night of incident at the Banjor Gas Station Community. The charge sheets said on the evening of August 3, 2024, initial responding officers who responded to the scene from Zone -6 base Police Station surfaced at the scene of the incident at Brewerville, Moulton Corner, where the alleged shooting incident occurred leading to the demise of the nineteen (19) years old Manobah of the same community. Upon obtaining information of the alleged shooting incident, the constituted team proceeded to the scene of crime where it met with the proprietor of the tea shop near where deceased Manobah collapsed in person of Mohammed Bobo with telephone number 0779270776. Mr. Bobo disclosed that at about the early hours of the evening on August 3, 2024, that while at his shop attending to customers, he received information that there was a situation unfolding at the junction near the shop. Bobo explained that he learned that a fellow collapsed at the junction and everyone was running there to find out what had happened to him. According to him, he got report that fellow could have been running one of the gaps which is situated at the rear of his shop. Bobo said he actually did not hear any shooting. He stated that deceased Manobah was taken to the hospital by some members of the community. The investigation team into the matter affirmed that deceased Manobah who collapsed at the junction was shot by the Police Commander Fayiah of Zone -6, Depot -3 of the PSU. The investigation was privileged to obtain assertions from witnesses as well as well as Zone -6, Police Commander Fayiah which indeed provided that the deceased was shot as a result of the verbal altercation exchange between the deceased Manobah and defendant Fayiah. The Police investigation team indicated that deceased Manobah and his friend were standing near the road and impeding the free flow of the traffic. However, deceased Manobah was shot with a black 9×9mm Gluck semi-automatic pistol with serial #AGKC807. The herein mentioned weapon is not the assigned pistol, Zone-6, Depot-3, Police Commander Fayiah but rather was borrowed from a friend identified as Francis Willie Konah with cell#0777849890. There was no visible threat posed to Police Commander Fayiah by deceased Manobah to have warranted him to pull out a semi-automatic weapon and discharge a round after the deceased was seen visibly running away from him fearing a possible threat to his life by the Police Commander. Meanwhile, Zone-6, Depot-3 Police Commander Fayiah, was transferred on August 8, 2024, at the Monrovia Central Prison, pending trial.
