Youth Advocate Questions Lawmaker’s Record

A fresh political debate has emerged in Bong County Electoral District #5 following a zero-performance rating, the youth issued against Representative Eugene J.M. Kollie.

Youth advocate, Buster Lakaba, has questioned the lawmaker’s legislative record, and oversight activities. Lakaba told In Profile Daily newspaper in Bong County that Rep. Kollie has not lived up to the expectations of many constituents since he assumed office, claiming that the lawmaker has failed to demonstrate legislative impact on behalf of the people he represents.

Lakaba, a prominent youth advocate in District #5, rated the performance of Kollie at zero.

He argued that elected officials should be measured by their ability to introduce legislation, advocate for national policies, and address issues affecting their constituents.

Lakaba further alleged that Rep. Kollie has failed to introduce, or sponsor any major bill before the plenary of the House of Representatives since he took office. Lakaba: “Representation at the legislature requires more than occupying a seat in the capitol; it requires lawmakers to actively participate in shaping laws, providing oversight, and ensuring that the concerns of citizens are brought to national attention.”

Lakaba also alleged that the lawmaker has not presented a comprehensive accountability report to constituents detailing his legislative activities, achievements, and engagements since being elected.

The comments have generated discussions among residents, and stakeholders regarding the importance of transparency, public accountability, and effective representation in electoral districts.

Lakaba said, citizens have the right to evaluate the performance of their elected officials, and demand regular updates on the work being done on their behalf.

The criticism comes as expectations continue to increase among potential voters for lawmakers to provide stronger representation, sponsor meaningful legislation, and maintain regular communication with the people they serve.

As debates surrounding legislative performance continue, the record, and activities of elected officials are expected to remain a major issue of public discussion in Bong County.

For Electoral District #5, the controversy has placed renewed attention on the relationship between elected leaders, and their constituents, with calls growing for accountability, transparency, and open engagement between lawmakers, and citizens.
