Weah’s Pastor Sent To South Beach For Scammed Travel Saga By: Yassah J Wright
The Former President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency George M. Weah’s Pastor and also Religious Advisor was detained for days by Liberia National Police (LNP) and subsequently sent to the Monrovia Central Prison on Friday June 7, 2024, for allegedly scamming over ninety persons in connection with Australian Visa. It was also gathered during investigation that the Pastor of the Forkay Klon Church, Rev. Emmanuel M. Nimely, faked organized conference lured about ninety (90) persons including the complainant and collected nine hundred seventy United States Dollars (US$970.00) per person for visa and other documentations fees. The complainant, H. Momo Fortune, Jr, who is the son of Rev. Momo H. Fortune, Head of the Month Zion Interceptories Ministry Church, located in Jacob Town Paynesville on the South Africa Road. Rev. Fortune’s son said on August 6, 2023, he came in contact with Pastor Nimely and he told him about an organization called “Global Spiritual Cleansing Peace and Reconciliation Organization” who deceptively informed him about program coming up called ” Healing Broken Hearts of Australia Reconciliation Conference and Crusade in Australia. Fortune Jr, stated that Pastor Nimely collected the amount of three thousand five hundred United States Dollars (US$3,500.00) from him under pretense of providing him with an Australian visa to attend a church conference. Rev. Fortune, Son narrated that Pastor Nimely also collected from over ninety persons, nine hundred seventy United States Dollars (US$970.00) per person under pretense to issue them visiting Australian visa to also attend the said church conference in Australia. However, the Forkay Klon Church Pastor Nimely admitted to the group’s explanation levied against him and informed the Police and his lawyer that over ninety persons registered for the program and the nine hundred seventy United States Dollars (US$ 970.00) were collected per person as visa processing fees for the conference in Australia. Pastor Nimely concluded that due to the failure to issue the visiting visas to the participants, he was complained to the police by the participants. However, he argued that he cannot refund the participants’ monies because visa fees are usually not refundable. “The victims got angry and contacted the Police, that is how I was arrested and taken to Zone Eight Deport where I spent one night there and the next morning, I was also transferred to the Headquarters of the Liberian National Police for investigation along with my lawyer” Forkay Klon Church Pastor Nimely explained. It was gathered during the Police preliminary investigation that the Global Spiritual Cleansing Peace and Reconciliation Organization is a religious organization established by Pastor Nimely which is involved with conferences, prayer meetings and biblical teachings principally aimed at peace and reconciliation. Despite the fact that the organization is being also reportedly involved with conference, investigation gathered established that it is involved into other dubious activities including organizing fraudulent foreign conferences. The investigation furthered uncovered that in furtherance of the dubious activities of Pastor Nimely, he organized a scammed visa program for five (5) days (December 5th 2023 to December 9th 2023) conference in Australia, which he created a false flyer with the image of Liberia, Kenya and Australian flags and bearing the theme: Healing the Broken Hearts of Australia Reconciliation Conference and Crusade. Police investigation discovered that the organization opened an account at the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) Branch adjacent Liberia MTN’s Head Office in Congo Town with account titled “Global Spiritual Cleansing Peace and Reconciliation”. The Police investigation further gathered that the amount of forty thousand five hundred United States Dollars (US$40,500.00) was transferred to a purported foreign account titled “Visa Store” through LBDI Bank. The investigation established from victims and witnesses statements that Pastor Nimely used the Forkay Klon Church to organized the scammed peace conference and crusade in Australia and criminally collected money from about over ninety (90) persons for visa and other documentations processing fees. According to the Police charge sheets, the Crime of Theft of Property was committed by Forkay Klon Church Pastor Nimely, who organized a scammed Australian visa program for a conference in Australia, through which he lured about ninety persons and collected three thousand five hundred United States Dollars and nine hundred seventy United States Dollars (US$3,500.00) and US$ 970.00) for visa and other documentations processing fees respectively. Meanwhile, Pastor Nimely is currently at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) pending court trial.
