The former National Campaign Chairman of the former governing Coalition for Democratic Change Government, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, has asserted that the CDC Standard Bearer George Weah will remain actively engaged into the body politics of Liberia.  As the political leader of the main opposition CDC, Mr. Nagbe said  Amb. Weah has done a lot to foster democracy in Liberia and is not going to leave it neither to be a spectator. According to him, for democracy to subsist properly, you must have a strong opposition and the CDC’s flag bearer remains committed and firmed to play such key role for the betterment of the larger society. Providing clarity about the Ex-president previous statement relative to his political future, the former Maritime Commissioner stressed that Mr. Weah’s statement in the church was misunderstood by some members of the public. ” What he was actually trying to tell the Liberian people through his congregation was that, he is not greedy for power but has no intention to abandon his people who gave him so much support over the years,” Nagbe further clarified. Weah , Mr. Nagbe pointed out, has not and will never abandon the revolution but will remain in charge in order  to superintend the active political activities of the major opposition whilst holding the new ruling Government accountable to their people.  “Weah will serve as the leader of the major opposition. He is not going to leave but will live here in Liberia to champion the advocacy in the interest of the masses,” Nagbe re-emphasized.

As an international icon and former Liberian leader, Nagbe indicated that ex- President Weah will make some foreign trips out of the country but his focus will be about the well-being of his people and will not forsake them. Nagbe as an executive of the CDC mentioned that his clarification especially on the ex-President statement about his political future was necessary in order to refute the claims and misinterpretation in the political corridors of the country. He said they as decision makers of the CDC are aware that their committed partisans look up to them for direction and hope as such, they remain in the vanguard to rekindle their hopes as they go through another six years period of opposition journey.
