The WASH Legislative Caucus Secretariat has concluded assessments in Bong, Nimba, Lofa, River Cess, and Gbarpolu counties.
The visits were focused on water facilities built under the UNDP supported Accelerated Community Development Program (ACDP).
During the visits, residents shared both progress and ongoing challenges, as well as many praising the new water points.
They highlighted issues of unreliable supplies, and poor infrastructure development.
At the visit, local officials and community members, also spoke of the need for increased support and better maintenance.
Members of the WASH Legislative Caucus, along with stakeholders from the Executive, UNDP, civil society, and development partners, participated in the assessments.
They discussed ways to improve coordination, accountability, and funding, with the goal to secure resources in the 2026 budget to expand access and sustain gains.
In a post-tour statement, the Head of the WASH Secretariat, Timothy Kpeh, said the findings will inform recommendations to lawmakers and the government.
Kpeh also said political commitment and community involvement are key to achieve the goals.
He further urged stronger partnerships among all stakeholders, and called for coordinated action to ensure Liberia’s progress in water, sanitation, and hygiene continues beyond the assessments.
