VP Koung To Break Ground For Development Projects In Grand Kru

Grand Kru County Senator, Nemene T. H. Bartekwa, has announced that Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung is expected to visit the county in September 2026 to break ground for several major development projects.
According to him, the Vice President’s visit will mark the beginning of a series of projects expected to impact infrastructure, education, sports, and transportation across Grand Kru County.
Among the projects expected to receive groundbreaking ceremonies are the Mini Sport Stadium in Barclayville, the Grand Kru Technical College Main Campus, the construction of a 50-kilometer road from Barclayville through Sasstown to Civilized Village, and the Barclayville streets, among other key development initiatives.
Senator Bartekwa also disclosed that the Government of Liberia has begun plans for the pavement of the 75-kilometer Barclayville–Pleebo road, linking Grand Kru County with Pleebo in neighboring Maryland County.
The Senator said Vice President Koung will also use his visit to dedicate several completed and ongoing development projects in the county.
These include the Grand Kru County Drop Depot, Youth Center, Gbanken Public School, as well as other projects undertaken or supported by Senator Bartekwa.
The announcement has generated expectations among residents, particularly communities that have long complained about poor road connectivity, limited educational infrastructure, inadequate recreational facilities, and other development challenges.
Senator Bartekwa said the people of Grand Kru have endured development challenges for too long and deserve tangible investments that can improve their quality of life.
“Our people have suffered so long, and they have waited for so long for these developments to come,” he said.
The anticipated September visit by Vice President Koung is therefore expected to serve as a significant moment for Grand Kru, as several long-awaited projects move toward implementation while ongoing initiatives are formally dedicated.
