Stakeholders Rally For ‘Protection’

Government institutions, security agencies, community leaders, students, and civil society actors recently converged in Barclayville City, Grand Kru County.

The gathering marks the county joining the global community in celebrating World Environment Day 2026.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Grand Kru County Office, organized the event.

It was observed under the global theme: “Climate Action” and the national theme: “Clean Air, Good Health.”

The celebration attracted representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Joint Security, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Forestry Development Authority (FDA), Ministry of Mines and Energy, Liberia National Red Cross Society, traditional chiefs, rural women groups, members of the Christian community, the Grand Kru County Health Team, school administrators, students, and the media.

Speakers and participants stressed the importance of environmental responsibility, and collective efforts to address challenges such as climate change, pollution, deforestation and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources.

The gathering also served as a platform to promote environmental awareness, and encourage communities to adopt practices that contribute to cleaner surroundings and healthier living conditions.

Participants called for greater public involvement in environmental protection initiatives, and emphasized the need for stronger cooperation among institutions and local communities in preserving the county’s natural resources.

The World Environment Day observance in Grand Kru forms part of a global effort to inspire action on environmental issues and reinforce the message that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

The event concluded with renewed commitments from stakeholders to support initiatives to create a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment in the county.
