Senator Cyrus wants Contec Global Liberia Contract withdraw

Lofa County Senator Momo Cyrus want Contec Global Liberia Contract cancelled due to lack of rectification by Senate. Senator Cyrus stated that the Contec Global Liberia does not has the capacity to provide 3,500 resident permit cards. He noted that there are more aliens coming Liberia without obtaining resident permit through the Liberia Immigration Service(LIS). The Lofa County Lawmaker made the assertion when the Joint Committee on Public Account and Audits, Defense, Security, Intelligence and Veteran Affairs, Ways Means, Finance and Budget and Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petitions report to Plenary Tuesday in the Senate Chamber on Capitol Hill.  According to him, committee investigation revealed that Contec Global Liberia permit production poses serious security risk to the nation. He pointed out that the lack of capacity to produce quality features for the resident permit cards. He said Liberia is losing million of dollars, noting that there are more aliens and foreigners who residing in Liberia without resident permit issue to them. Senator Cyrus stressed that the contract which was not done legally is US$40 million and it should provide some equipment and logistical support to LIS for the smooth coordination of their operation.  He emphasized that cancellation of the contract in the right direction for the country. Meanwhile, the decision of the Liberian Senate remaining pending as the plenary was informed the Executive Branch of government was seeking the cancellation of the contract between the Liberian Government and Contec Global Liberia.
