Saygbe Donates Starlink To G/Kru’s Youth

Young people in Grand Kru County are to benefit from improved access to high-speed internet.

The latest development came about when the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), J. Cyrus Saygbe, Sr. donation a Starlink internet kit to the County Youth Center in Barclayville.

The donation, which fulfills a previous commitment Mr. Saygbe made to the young people, is expected to strengthen digital learning, research, communication, and access to online opportunities at the Youth Center. Grand Kru County Development Officer, Joe M. Sekpeh, on Monday, August 3, presented the equipment on behalf of DG Saygbe. Sekpeh said, the initiative demonstrates a commitment to expand digital connectivity, and create greater access to information, and technology for young people. He said, the Starlink service will provide free, high-speed internet access to youth, and other community members using the center, potentially opening new opportunities for online education, research, entrepreneurship, and engagement with government, and other essential services. “The internet service is expected to benefit students engaged in online learning, assist journalists in accessing timely information, and enable community members to connect with educational, business, and government services.”

Youth leaders, and community members, who believe reliable internet access will bridge the digital divide, and give young people greater opportunities to compete in an increasingly digital world have welcomed the donation. Grand Kru County Youth President, Adam Chea, who received the equipment, expressed appreciation to Saygbe for supporting them to improve digital access at the center. “The new digital connection, along with months of subscription, will go a long way in strengthening youth activities. It will also help our young people access timely information, and conduct research.” Chea also disclosed how the youth leadership, in collaboration with the county authorities, is expected to officially turn the equipment over to the County Youth Center later this month. The donation is the second Starlink internet support provided by Saygbe to the county.  He previously donated Starlink equipment to the Voice of Grand Kru Community Radio Station in Barclayville.

With the latest intervention, supporters say, the Saygbe is contributing to efforts that would expand digital connectivity across the county, particularly in spaces that serve the youth, and the community.
