The Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Reverend Edwin Garpue Sherman, has reaffirmed his commitment to social justice and moral integrity.
Sherman assured the church goers and members that the church will stand as a “light in the darkness” in a world beset by corruption and injustice.
Rev. Sherman also assured the congregation of his dedication to being a voice for the voiceless, advocating for those marginalized by a flawed system. He spoke at a ceremony in which a group of media practitioners under the banner: “Excellent Media Incorporated,” recognized him as an “Outstanding Pastor of the Church 2026.”
Rev. Sherman: “We cannot remain silent in the face of injustice. The church has a responsibility to speak out against corruption, and to uplift those who are often overlooked.”
His remarks resonated deeply in a time when many feel disenfranchised and powerless against systemic inequalities.
Sherman cautioned members of the congregation to remain steadfast in their principles as well as their daily lives.
“We will never be compromised,” he said, stressing the need for the First Baptist Church to continue upholding its mission of service and advocacy without succumbing to external pressures or temptations.
The Baptist Church, he said, serves as a cornerstone of leadership, which has inspired parishioners and community members.
