As the youthful generation being described as future leaders, their empowerments are also key which accordingly have prompted Rivercess County District 2 Representative, Steve Tequah, to recently make a significant move by launching a vocational scholarship program which aimed at equipping young people with essential technical skills across his district. According to him, the initiative will provide 20 students with the opportunity to pursue vocational education to help them in securing employment and become self-reliant for future challenges. Rep Tequah noted that the program will focus on practical training in key trades such as Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry, Electricity, Computer Technology, Auto Mechanics, and Heavy-Duty Mechanics among others. He further revealed his aim and objective of targeting these vocational fields, stressing that it will further tackle the high unemployment rate in Rivercess County and also create a skilled workforce capable to contributing to the county’s economic development. “This scholarship is part of my commitment to ensuring that young people in our district gain the necessary skills to improve their lives and support their families. Vocational training is a pathway to financial independence, and I want to provide that opportunity for our youth,” Rep. Tequah promised. The Rivercess County District 2 Lawmaker told the gathering that the selection process of the scholarship will be inclusive, prioritizing underprivileged and marginalized individuals, as well as high school graduates who lack access to formal education, noting that the initiative is also opened to both young men and women, promoting gender equality and equal opportunity in vocational training for all. “With this program, my aim is not to only enhance the professional capabilities of Rivercess County’s youth but also to stimulate local economic growth by increasing the number of skilled workers in the region,” Rep. Tequah noted. Moreover, the community leaders and residents of Rivercess County welcomed the initiative, calling it a timely intervention to address the employment challenges faced by young people in the county. As the application process begins, many hopeful students are eager to seize this opportunity to build a brighter future through vocational education. Meanwhile, as the issue of education and empowerment for the people of Rivercess County remains the key focus of Rep. Tequah, it can also be recalled that recently, the lawmaker submitted to the plenary of the House of Representatives, a proposed Bill seeking the enactment of a community college in Rivercess County.
