Poetic Trumpet

They’re Crying Under the Rain

0

They’re crying under the rain,

They’re crying from their sharp pains;

They have lost all that they once gained,

Their tears are flowing—

Tears that no one can see.

They’re crying painfully under the rain;

In their hands, there is no more economic power,

In their hands, there is no more political power.

And there they stand, beneath the rain,

Crying bitterly.

Their tears flow like a river,

But no one can see them.

They once felt entitled to power;

They once treated power as their inheritance.

They behaved like boastful Goliaths,

Destroying flowers while they held power.

Now power is gone—

And they are bitterly weeping.

Money is gone—

And they are bitterly weeping.

Luxury is gone—

And they can no longer sleep.

Happiness is gone—

And they are no longer dancing.

In every corner, they are weeping and weeping;

In every corner, they are lying and lying.

They once stood tall in the sunshine of power,

But now they are trembling beneath the rain,

Learning that power is temporary,

Wealth is fleeting,

And nothing lasts forever.
