Poetic Trumpet

The Game of Politics

Yesterday, I witnessed the game of politics.

Today, I am witnessing the game of politics.

It is a game whose players cannot be trusted,

A game whose players are mostly betrayers,

A game whose players are commonly liars,

A game whose players are masters of deception,

A game whose players are mostly corrupt,

A game whose players are laughing devils.

The game of politics is played in the night,

Where hidden moves are made beyond the light.

The game of politics is ever dynamic;

Its rules can change in a moment, without warning.

The game of politics can turn friends into foes,

And transform allies into bitter opponents.

The game of politics can turn angels into devils,

And make honest hearts wander into darkness.

The game of politics is not milk and honey.

It is not a field for the innocent or the naive.

It is a game of power, promises, betrayal, and deception—

A game where yesterday’s friend

May become today’s enemy,

And today’s ally may become tomorrow’s betrayer.

Yesterday, I witnessed the game of politics.

Today, I am witnessing the game of politics.

And I wonder:

When will the game ever change?

When devils disguise themselves as angels,

When angels are manipulated into becoming devils,

When sycophants are the most beloved,

When humble people are forgotten,

When masters of lies are the most favored,

When truth becomes a burden

And deception becomes a virtue.

When loyalty is measured by obedience,

When integrity is mistaken for weakness,

When honesty is punished

And betrayal is rewarded,

When those who speak the truth are silenced

While those who deceive are celebrated—

Then what kind of game is politics?

Yesterday, I witnessed the game of politics.

Today, I am witnessing the game of politics.

And perhaps tomorrow,

I will witness the same game again.
