Over IAA DG’s Death: Tweh, Twehway, Others Face Police Probe

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has invited the following individuals for questioning in connection with the death of Emmanuel Barthan Nyeswa:

  1. Samuel Tweh, Former Finance Minister
  2. Bill T. Twehway, Senator of River Cess County
  3. Wilhelmina Jallah, Former Health Minister
  4. Mr. Trokon Williams

On October 10, 2020, Mr. Emmanuel Barten Nyeswa, Director General of the Internal Audit Agency was found dead at his 72nd Boulevard residence.  His death marked the fourth auditor to die in a span of eight days in Monrovia, following the deaths of Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) employees Albert Peters (Internal Audit), Gifty Lama (Taxpayers Services Division), and George Fanbutu (External Audit). The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.  According to reports, the incident occurred around 2 am on Saturday of October 2020 after Nyeswa had left D’Calabash, an amusement spot along the Congo Town backroad, where he had been with friends until returning home after midnight.
