NFAA Conducts Food Assessment, Donates Rice To ‘Vulnerable’
The Director General of the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA), Borkai Sirleaf, has dispatched a team to several rural communities in Grand Cape Mount County.
Members of the team, according to a release, was to assess the food needs of flood victims, and residents of flood-affected communities.
The team was led by Elton Dickson, Deputy Director General for Operations, and Mike Jabateh, Acting Deputy Director General for Publicity.
They visited Londijah, Gbassalor, Kru Town, Grassfield, Central Ward, Fanti Town, Upper Central Ward, and Weajue.
About 600 people met members of the delegation when they arrived on Wednesday, September 23, in the county.
The team donated rice, and other local food items to vulnerable households in the visited communities.
The rice was provided through the office of the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Samuel A. Stevquoah, for onward donation by NFAA.
It supported persons with physical, psychological, and social vulnerabilities.
Meanwhile, NFAA Director General Borkai Sirleaf, has lauded the office of the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs for the donation, and extended thanks to the residents for the warm reception.
Sirleaf assured the locals that, with the support of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, government remains committed to minimize hunger.
“Through the leadership, and support of Pres. Boakai, there will be zero hunger soon,” Sirleaf declared.
He added that the assessment visit will guide future interventions, and ensure that similar assistance reaches the people, who need it most, especially in hard-to-reach communities.
Meanwhile, NFAA reaffirms its commitment to work with local leaders, and partners to improve food security.
