The leadership of New Life Community located in Louisiana Township, Montserrado County, has appealed to government for electricity, and particularly for the road reconditioning.

The community chairlady, Fatta Flingai said, her office has on previous occasions engaged supervisors at the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) “just to get a transformer, but the roads are deplorable.”

The road leading in the community across the train track has seriously impeded transportation.

Madam Flingai: “LEC management asked us to pay US$30,000 initially, but we begged and settled for US$7,000. The community agreed and taxed residents to collect US$3000 as part payment for a transformer provided it was made available to us.”

While LEC is yet to address the concern, Madam Flingai has meanwhile, stressed the urgent need for electricity, and the need for the government to provide the service, which she said, the locals are willing to pay for it.

Residents of the nearby emerging community have been in perpetual darkness, compounded by bad road network.
