Three newly qualified Attorneys-at-Law, have made a commitment to use their legal education, not only to advance their individual careers, but to also contribute to the development of Grand Kru County, particularly in the area of justice, and legal representation.
Lovette B. Fahnbulleh, Julius D. Fannieh, and John D. Kumeh, graduates of the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia, were formally admitted to the Grand Kru County Bar during an official ceremony held Monday, August 10.
Their admission brings new legal professionals into a county where access to justice remains an important concern, particularly for residents who often face challenges accessing qualified legal representation.
The three attorneys were welcomed into the profession in the presence of judges, magistrates, court officers, practicing lawyers, relatives, friends, and other members of the legal community.
On behalf of his colleagues, Atty. Fahnbulleh said, their entry into the profession comes with responsibilities that go beyond personal achievement.
Fahnbulleh expressed appreciation to the Grand Kru Bar, and the Judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, His Honor Peter Gbeneweleh, for welcoming them into the legal community.
She pledged that they would practice law in accordance with the law, and make justice the guiding principle of their professional duties.
“We promise to practice law, and as you directed, we will practice nothing, but the law in the right way,”
She said, whether representing an accused person, prosecuting a case, defending a client, or performing other legal duties, lawyers must remain committed to the fair administration of justice.
A Promise to Grand Kru
For Atty. Fahnbulleh, and her colleagues, the admission ceremony was also an opportunity to make a direct commitment to the county from which their families originate.
She pledged that the three lawyers would return to Grand Kru, and use their professional knowledge to support the development, particularly in matters involving law.
The pledge comes as the county continues to rely on its legal professionals to help residents understand their rights, navigate the justice system, and obtain proper legal representation.
Remembering a Fallen Classmate
The ceremony also took an emotional turn when Atty. Fahnbulleh called for a moment of silence in memory of colleagues, who could not be present, including their late classmate, Henry Boyd Flomo.
She meanwhile, encouraged other members of their graduating class, who are still pursuing their legal studies to remain focused, and committed.
The three new attorneys also have strong ancestral connections to Grand Kru.
For example, Atty. Fahnbulleh is a maternal descendant of Kayken, while Fannieh and Kumeh, are paternal descendants of Grandcess, and Dugbo, respectively.
