Monrovia Central Prison Hacks Kojie, Telleh Testimonies -As Jurors, Indictees Did Not Appear In Court By:Yassah J Wright
The Monrovia Central Prison has hacked Criminal Court “A” activities by bringing Defendant Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, Ma Rebecca Youdeh Wisner, Gertrude Newton and Alice Johnson to witness ValleeTelleh and others’ testimonies due to demonstration for salaries. Judge Roosevelt Willie said the representations of the parties are hereby noted and the court notes the report of the Sheriff with respect of the absent of the defendants and the trial jurors. Judge Willie stated that the court wishes to inform the parties and subpoena persons if they are here presents. “We receive a report from the Monrovia Central Prison where the Prison authorities has informed the Court that they are not accepting any Prison in the court neither are they allowing any inmates to get out,” Judge Willie noted. Judge Willie further said according to them, they told the Court through their Director Varney Lake that the Prison workers said they supposed to receive said money that they have not received and therefore until they can receive that money…… Criminal Court “A” Judge Willie stated that Director Lake also told them that they will not allow any inmates to go to prison or come out. The Judge said when they receive this information, the court called the Minister of Justice, Frank Musa Dean, to inform him about the situation and how serious it is because it is the second time it has occurred and the case supposed to expeditiously handled and completed forthwith. Judge Willie noted that Minister Dean also informed the court that they will handle everything possible. He stressed that the court will resume these proceedings and that is the reason the defendants and trial jurors not in court. “We since we do know when they will solve this problem, we do not want to reschedule this case for tomorrow but rather for Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 9:45am prompt. Judge Willie stated that if subpoena witnesses Kojie, Telleh and others that were mandated to appear, adding that the court says they rescheduled and informed parties, because the law requires that the defendants be present at any hearing such as this a criminal trial and these are the reasons why the court cannot proceed with the trial. The Criminal Court “A” Judge said all parties being present on the minutes serves as notice of assignment and it is hereby so ordered. The Republic of Liberia is represented as pre pervious records in these proceedings, present in court are the following lawyers: Cllr. Alhaji Swahilo Sesay, Acting County Attorney for Montserrado County, Cllr. Sumo C. Kutu-Akoi, Atty. Randolph D. M. O. Johnson, Atty, J. Dexter Puieyoe and Atty. Enoch S. Garlawolo, to be joined by J.
