The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has announced an immediate nationwide ban on the sale, distribution, promotion, and use of shisha products in nightclubs, bars, lounges, and similar entertainment establishments. The directive, according to a release, requires business owners to stop selling shisha, remove all related equipment from their premises, prohibit customers from smoking shisha, and ensure staff strictly enforce the order.
The measure was introduced in collaboration with relevant government agencies to protect public health, and ensure compliance with laws regulating tobacco, and related products.
According to the Ministry, businesses that violate the directive, face penalties, including immediate closure, fines, suspension or withdrawal of their business licenses, and other administrative, or legal sanctions.
The ministry also announced that routine, and unannounced inspections will be conducted to monitor compliance, and urged business owners to take immediate corrective action.
Authorities warned that failure to comply with the directive will result in the full enforcement of applicable laws.
