Authorities at the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) have donated 1,000 coconut seedlings to Grand Kru County.
The seedlings are part of efforts to expand coconut production, and strengthen agricultural activities.
The county agricultural coordinator, Alfred F. Ogunti, confirmed the arrival of the seedlings.
Ogunti said, the seedlings will be used to establish a coconut nursery that will eventually provide planting materials to farmers.
The seedlings are also part of a commitment Agriculture Minister, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, made during his recent visit to the county.
Meanwhile, Pinciness Community have provided land to establish the nursery.
The site has already been prepared to accommodate the seedlings.
Ogunti reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to support farmers through various national programs to improve food production, strengthen livelihoods, and promote food security.
The county administrative officer, Alphonso N. Teah, who welcomed the initiative, has commended government for providing agricultural support to the farmers. Teah encouraged residents to make effective use of the opportunity.
