The Chairman of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Clarence Kortu Massaquoi, has pledged US$700 in support of the Criminal Justice Department of Lofa County University (LCU).
The money is to strengthen this year’s Criminal Justice Day celebration, and promotes academic excellence.
The contribution is expected to assist students and faculty members of the Criminal Justice Department under the College of Social Sciences and Humanities as they continue to advance professional training in the justice sector.
During the celebration, Massaquoi recommitted himself to support education and youth development.
He described investment in higher education as a step to build a skilled workforce for the future.
He stressed the need for students pursuing criminal justice studies to strengthen the legal institutions, promote the rule of law, and contribute to peace and national development.
Massaquoi encouraged students to remain focused on their academic journey, and take advantage of educational opportunities that will prepare them for leadership and professional responsibilities after graduation.
LCU students and faculty members welcomed the pledge. They described it as a timely intervention that demonstrates support for higher education and the development of young Liberians.
University officials also praised the gesture. They said, the partnerships between government leaders, private institutions, and universities, are to improve academic programs and create better opportunities for students.
Massaquoi’s US$700 pledge represents a continued call for increased support toward higher education institutions. It encourages leaders to invest in future generation.
He has over the years, being recognized for supporting educational and youth empowerment initiatives, particularly in Lofa County.
His latest commitment adds to efforts aimed at developing human capital, and preparing young people to contribute meaningfully the growth of the country.
The Criminal Justice Day celebration brought together students, faculty members, and invited guests, who highlighted the importance of criminal justice education in producing professionals, who can uphold justice, protect public interest and strengthen the justice system.
