LTM Partners with LNP In; BOOSTING ROAD SAFETY
The Liberia Traffic Management (LTM) has announced a strategic partnership with the Liberia National Police (LNP) aimed at improving traffic regulation and road safety in Monrovia and its surrounding areas. Speaking at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism’s regular press briefing on Thursday, January 22, 2025. Deputy Director of LTM, Ignatius S. Blaye, highlighted the significance of the initiative. He described it as an opportunity to address the many challenges road users face daily. “Our collaboration with the police and other stakeholders is designed to ease traffic congestion, enhance safety, and improve overall traffic management,” Blaye stated. To bolster this effort, LTM has trained over 200 traffic officers, equipping them with the skills necessary to manage traffic effectively. Additionally, the organization is providing specialized training for drivers to promote responsible road use. “We are not only focused on enforcing regulations but also on ensuring drivers are well-trained,” Blaye emphasized. He further revealed plans to install surveillance cameras across Monrovia and its environs to monitor traffic activities. This move aims to hold reckless drivers accountable, especially in hit-and-run incidents.
“If any driver causes an accident and flees the scene, we will use the cameras to track them down,” he assured. Blaye also noted that the Ministry of Transport has given LTM full authorization to operate in Liberia, dismissing any claims of legal disputes. “Our goal is to maintain order and reduce traffic-related incidents while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all road users,” he said The LTM-LNP partnership represents a proactive approach to tackling Monrovia’s growing traffic challenges and ensuring safer streets for everyone.
