Lofa Health Team On Modern Surgical Theater
By Peter Kollie
The Lofa County Health Team, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), has formulated plans to construct a modern surgical theater.
The team selected a proposed Comprehensive Health Center in Salayea District for the project.
On Saturday, October 24, MoH team visited the Salayea Health District. The team assessed and identified an additional site for the proposed facility.
The visit comprised engineers, district health officials, citizens, and stakeholders that evaluated the proposed location, and supported preparations for the project.
The planned surgical theater is to strengthen healthcare delivery, and improve access to surgical services, enhance emergency obstetric care, and facilitate timely medical interventions.
The facility is to also reduce the difficulties residents face when seeking specialized medical services outside the district, particularly during emergencies.
In the plan, an official groundbreaking ceremony will take place early next month.
The ceremony is anticipated to bring together the Chief Health Officer of the Lofa County, residents and local authorities.
