The Gender Sensitive Inclusion Unit (GSIU) of the Ministry of Local Government, has commenced a four-day capacity-building workshop.
The workshop aims to strengthen the skills of local government officials, county council members, and county service center coordinators from five counties.
The training, being held in Gbarnga, Bong County, is funded by the government. It focuses on improving gender-sensitive, and citizen-centered approaches to local governance, and public service delivery.
The workshop brought together local government actors to enhance their understanding of effective planning, coordination, monitoring, reporting, accountability, and engagement with citizens.
Director of the Gender Sensitive Inclusion Unit, Mrs.
Cecelia J. Gould, said the training is to strengthen the ability of local officials to transform national policies, and government priorities into practical programs, and services that directly benefit citizens.
Mrs. Gould encouraged participants to actively engage throughout the training by sharing experiences from their respective counties, identify challenges affecting their work, and develop practical solutions that can be applied after the workshop.
Participants are expected to use the knowledge, and skills gained to improve service delivery, accountability, documentation, coordination, and the effective use of public resources.
The workshop included technical presentations, experience-sharing sessions, group discussions, practical exercises, and action planning.
