“Liberia Will Be A Different Country” – Boakai Assures Liberians By: Julius Konton

President -elect Joseph Boakai has finally received his Certificate as official winner of the November 14, 2023 Presidential Runoff election. At a well-attended certification ceremony, Amb. Boakai encouraged all Liberians to see the ceremony as a national celebration.  Speaking following the presentation of his certificate by the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission,  Davidetta  Browne Lansannah,  President-elect Boakai disclosed that Liberia will be a different country under his watch as Head of State . Amb. Boakai at the same time reassured Liberians that he will not betray the trust reposed in him to become their leader. “We will work tirelessly for you and we will ensure that you will benefit from your votes,” he re-emphasized.  According to him, the people of this country have demonstrated to the world that Liberia can be different unlike before. The Unity Party Flag Bearer told the gathering that the full involvement of the people will be felt and not seen under his regime. He also hailed President George Weah for conceding defeat before the announcement of the final results, this, he stated, was welcoming and a good sign of Liberia’s matured democracy. “I also commend President Weah for committing to a peaceful transition process,” Boakai added. He further appreciated the support of the National and international communities as well as other partners towards the just ended national process. Ahead of the inauguration ceremony,  President-elect Boakai urged all Liberians to join him in what he described as a national celebration. With few weeks to the official inauguration ceremony, Boakai informed the gathering that he and his Vice President Jeremiah Kpahn Koung will lay out a role for progress for the country. “We will truly articulate the pathway for peace, progress and national development,” he noted. With cheers of applause and celebration, both President and Vice President-elect received their certificates, declaring them the legitimate winners of the just ended crucial elections in Liberia as inauguration is scheduled for January 22, 2024 at the Grounds of the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
