Authorities at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have recommitted to an inclusive, transparent, and accountable reform process.

The Agency, according to a release, assured qualified volunteers (action agents) that they will be considered for recruitment in accordance with established procedures and selection criteria.

The assurance was given on Monday, October 19, during a meeting with volunteers at the Agency’s former headquarters in Fiamah, Sinkor.

LDEA Director General-designate, Daniel Dee Ziankahn, Jr.; Deputy Director General-designate for Administration, Prince B. Mulbah, and Deputy Director General-designate for Operations, Precious Rue attended the meeting.

The designated leadership emphasized the need for the initial phase of the recruitment process to prioritize existing volunteers, while other qualified Liberians would also be allowed to apply.

The leadership noted how all candidates will undergo a structured vetting process conducted by a designated committee to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with established requirements.

Ziankahn called on volunteers to cooperate with the reform initiative. He said, formal recruitment, appropriate civil service status, and basic law enforcement training were essential to strengthen the institutional capacity, and promote professionalism among personnel.

The leadership also reiterated directive prohibiting volunteers, and Action Agents from undertaking official activities, or presenting themselves as authorized Agency personnel without formal approval.

Those affected have been instructed to surrender, and discontinue the use of LDEA uniforms, equipment, identification materials, and other related items in keeping with the directives.

Meanwhile, the Agency has announced the relocation of its headquarters from Fiamah, Sinkor, to the former National Security Agency building in the Police Academy Community, Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

The relocation and ongoing reforms are to strengthen institutional effectiveness, improve operational oversight, and enhance the Agency capacity to combat illicit drugs, and enforce drug control laws.

The LDEA reiterates its commitment to professionalism, transparency, accountability, and the rule of law as it pursues reforms to build a more effective, and credible drug enforcement institution.

The LDEA meanwhile, called on the public to remain vigilant, and report suspected drug-related activities through its official hotlines.
