The River Gee County Detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has forwarded six suspected drug peddlers.
The suspects were forwarded to the Gbeapo Kanweaken City Magisterial Court for prosecution following separate anti-drug operations.
LDEA made the arrests during a raid on suspected drug ghettos in Tartuken Town, and during routine inspections at the Tienpo Nyonken Checkpoint.
LDEA recorded that during the search, officers recovered 46 wraps and four grams of Kush, five strips of tramadol pills, 80 wraps of high-grade marijuana.
The Agency estimated the total street value of the confiscated narcotics at more than L$86,800.
The six suspects, all Liberian nationals, were identified as: Howard Gbangly, 20, Augustine Toe, 22 , Prince Brownell, 17, Wah Karpeh, 19, Weah Garrison, 42 and Romeo S. M. Seen, 45.
LDEA officials said, the suspects were investigated and formally charged before being forwarded to court for further legal proceedings.
According to reports, after their initial appearance, the defendants were remanded at the Fish Town Central Prison.
They will remain in custody pending trial.
River Gee County LDEA Commander, Bill M. Cooper, said the Agency will not relent in the fight against illegal drugs and other controlled substances.
“We remain committed to intensify operations in the county, because our goal is to remove illicit drugs from our communities, and ensure that those involved face the full weight of the law.”
Cooper added that the detachment will continue targeted raids, and checkpoint inspections, as part of efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
