Kollie Blasts Self-Serving Politicians

Former 2011 Bong County senatorial candidate, J. Mike Kollie, has launched a scathing attack on politicians.
Kollie accused public officials of systematically weaponizing state office for personal, and family enrichment while they abandoned vulnerable citizens who elected them.
He made the desolate comment when he appeared in Gbarnga during events that marked his 70th birthday.
Kollie delivered a blistering indictment of the nation’s political elites.
He condemned as dishonest, predatory cycle in governance, where opportunistic politicians aggressively bring ordinary citizens closer to them during election cycles as they promised sweeping community development, only to turn their backs on the electorates the moment they gain access to public coffers.
Kollie warned that the persistent diversion of state resources into private bank accounts has stalled national progress, and widened the gap between the ruling class, and ordinary Liberians.
He said, government resources belong entirely to the public, and must be deployed to build infrastructure, create sustainable economic opportunities, and improve living conditions, rather than funding the lavish lifestyles of elected officials, and their immediate families.
On his sharpest criticisms to leaders representing Bong County, Kollie reminded current public servants that holding political office is a high trust meant for self-sacrificing service; not a lucrative business venture for personal aggrandizement.
He called on citizens to hold their leaders accountable, and demand immediate transparency regarding how public funds are allocated, and spent.
Kollie, who contested the 2011 Bong County senatorial election on the ticket of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) secured 10,076 votes (8.87 percent) to finish fifth in a competitive six-candidate race remains a vocal commentator on local governance.
His latest commentary reflects growing national frustration over public sector corruption, official entitlement, and the blatant misuse of taxpayer money in the political landscape.
As public anger over mismanaged state resources continues to mount, Kollie’s harsh rebuke serves as a timely reminder that genuine leadership requires integrity, accountability, and an unyielding commitment to the public good.
