Information Minister Defends Officers’ Deployment At RIA

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has defended government action for deploying officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia at the RIA on Saturday. According to him, members of the CDC threatened to burn down the Airport if they were not allowed to enter and welcome former President George Weah. Minister Piah speaking at MICAT briefing told reporters that CDCians were attempting to force their way inside the airport and on the runway to welcome their standard bearer, former President Weah and even threatening to burn down the airport. He said with such threat, the government had no option but to call in the AFL.Meanwhile, the Information Minister has called on former President Weah to advise his supporters to desist from causing chaos and confusion for the state while emphasizing the need for peaceful cohesion.
