Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh said he stands by the content of his post he made in which he accused Liberians of unexpectedly visiting senators at the Capitol just to beg. Senator Konneh maintained that unexpected visitors who mostly come for assistance usually distract Senators thereby lowering their focus on their work. The former Finance Minister attributed the huge corruption in Public sector to people begging for assistance especially those unrelated to Public officials. “The issue of solicitation by strangers, not my friends or true constituents, is widespread in Liberia and is a key contributor to the political corruption often denounced by those raising concerns about my post. Personally, I find it particularly challenging to focus on my legislative responsibilities amid these distractions.” Senator Konneh revealed that the constant begging from uninvited guests is causing him health issues:  “This situation has taken a toll on my health as it has significantly reduced my time with family and adequate sleep. It is imperative that all citizens, particularly those in Monrovia, where we work, allow us to carry out our duties without unnecessary hindrances. They should respect our office protocols and working hours and take advantage of the visiting hours we have set aside, as is done everywhere in the world.” Source: Lib Latest News231
