GSA Retires 19 Employees

The General Services Agency (GSA) has officially retired 19 employees in a ceremony held at its headquarters on United Nations Drive in Monrovia.

The event marked a significant milestone in the agency’s commitment to ensuring that retirees receive their benefits under the leadership of President Joseph N. Boakai.

Speaking at the retirement ceremony on Friday March 14, 2025,  the GSA Director General Galakpai W. Kortimai assured the retirees that no government employee would retire without receiving their due benefits.

 He emphasized that some of the retirees may still be called upon for contract-based work, acknowledging their continued value to the agency.

“We are committed to protecting the interests of all employees. Those who retired today are not forgotten; they remain useful to the GSA and can be called upon whenever needed,” Director General Kortimai stated.

Each retiree was presented with a check worth $30,000 Liberian Dollars from Secure Risk Insurance Company as part of their retirement benefits.

 Speaking on behalf of the company; the General Manager, Atty.  Fobert Henry Johnson III, expressed gratitude the GSA and the of Liberia for entrusting Secure Risk with the responsibility of facilitating retiree benefits.

“Our company is here to support the government’s efforts in ensuring that retirees receive their benefits in a timely manner,” the Secure Risk General Manager stated.

Also present at the ceremony was the President of the Civil Servants Association of Liberia (CSAL), Mumbai Johnson, who lauded the GSA for prioritizing the welfare of its employees.

He further urged the national government to consider increasing civil servants’ salaries in the next budget to promote good governance and improve workers’ livelihoods.

The ceremony includes senior officials on government, including representative from National social Security Welfare cooperation and representative from Civil Servants Agency.

List of Honorees

The following individuals were honored for their years of dedicated service at the GSA,  Lawrence D. Smith,Edith Dunbar, Edwin Pyne, Kedrick D.N. Teah, David Kerkula, Mulbah Chede, John Kaba ,Perry Summerville, Lamin Clinton, Alphonso Russel, Maima Zumo, Rebecca Kruah, Saywala Golafaly, Nath Kpaiwwulu, and other are Joseph Morris ,Joseph Freeman, Jamaldz Yeagar, Thomas Coding,  Richard B. Tokpah.

These retirees held various key positions, including Director, Assistant Director, Project Officer, Secretary, Asset Monitor, Chief of Security, Auto Electrician, Upholsterer, Window Technician, Carpenter, Generator Technician and Painter.

The ceremony concluded with warm appreciation from colleagues, family members, and friends, celebrating the retirees’ contributions to public service in Liberia.
