Excitement is building in Grand Kru County following the announcement of two major projects expected to reshape public infrastructure, and transportation while creating new opportunities for the locals.
The projects include the construction of a new county administrative complex in Barclayville, and the planned pavement of the Maryland–Grand Kru highway.
The announcement was made by Firmin Dion, General Manager of Emergence Company Group Incorporated during a press briefing in Barclayville.
Dion said, preparations for the new administrative facility are already underway, with his team assessing the existing county administration building, and surveying a proposed site at the Grand Kru Technical College.
For many residents, however, the proposed road project is likely to have the most immediate impact.
Dion said, technical assessments for the Maryland–Grand Kru road have been completed, and that procurement has begun. Construction is expected to commence during the dry season.
Beyond roads and government buildings, the projects are also generating expectations for employment.
Dion said, local citizens will receive first preference for jobs, and contract opportunities associated with the projects.
“Local citizens will be given first preference for employment, and contract opportunities during implementation.”
The commitment is particularly significant for young people in Grand Kru, where employment opportunities remain limited.
