Grand Kru County Administration has addressed the longstanding transportation challenges that have faced local officials, and security personnel with the presentation of six motorcycles.
The cycles, valued approximately at US$6,000 are to support government operations.
The motorcycles were presented on Thursday, September 10, during a ceremony at the County Administrative Building in Barclayville.
The initiative, implemented through the Ministry of Local Government, and funded through the County Development Fund, intends to improve the mobility of district authorities, and security personnel to reach remote communities.
On behalf of Superintendent Antoinette Worley Nimely, County Administrative Officer Alphonso Teah, who made the presentation said, two motorcycles were assigned to joint security institutions, specifically the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), and the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
The remaining four motorcycles were allocated to district superintendents, including officials assigned in Buah, and Dorbor districts.
Teah said, the beneficiaries had formally requested transportation support, citing difficulties traveling to hard-to-reach communities to effectively implement government’s policies.
The motorcycles are to strengthen field monitoring, supervision, security operations, and the implementation of government programs.
He cautioned the recipients against misusing the motorcycles for personal activities.
The latest intervention comes amid continuing efforts by the County Administration to improve the capacity of local institutions, and extend government services to communities beyond Barclayville, the capital.
