G/Kru Health Workers Undergo ‘Specialized’ Ultrasound Training

The Grand Kru County Health Team has launched a specialized in-service ultrasound training for frontline healthcare workers as they make strategic planning to strengthen health services in the county.

The training aims to reduce maternal and newborn health risks.

The training, spearheaded by the County Health Officer (CHO), brought together midwives, Registered Nurses (RNs), and Officers-in-Charge (OICs) from health facilities in Barclayville. Participants received practical instruction in obstetric ultrasound, image interpretation, and clinical decision-making for maternal healthcare.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of healthcare providers to identify pregnancy-related complications early, and improve the quality of antenatal and delivery services.

Health officials said, strengthening the skills of frontline workers remains critical to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, particularly in rural communities where access to specialized medical services is often limited.

Meanwhile, the County Health Team also continued its 365-Day Planning Session, convening representatives of Rally Time Hospital, health centers, and clinics to assess the performance of ongoing health programs and set priorities for the year ahead.

The planning exercise is expected to improve coordination among healthcare facilities, address service delivery gaps, and ensure that county health interventions are aligned with national public health objectives.

Officials described the twin initiatives as key steps to build a more resilient and responsive healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of the locals.
