The Human Resource Division of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) has concluded a three-day Performance Planning Workshop that strengthened the capacity of employees. The workshop was held at the Fairgrounds in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
The training, according to a release, brought together scores of regional staff. It was spearheaded by Julius Parker, Director for Employment Services at the Civil Service Agency (CSA).
Mr. Parker and members of his team from the Civil Service Agency facilitated the workshop. He highlighted the importance of the Civil Service Performance Planning Form, and educated employees on its relevance, particularly in relation to employee promotion and performance evaluation.
Mr. Parker also emphasized the importance of timely employees’ appraisals and noted that the ongoing reforms being undertaken by the Civil Service Agency, are intended to strengthen employees’ capacity and improve effectiveness within the public sector.
The workshop was attended by the Forestry Development Authority’s Director of Internal Audit, Jeremiah S. Smith, and Budget Accountant, Mark K. Gontor, who respectively provided oversight and support throughout the training sessions.
FDA Human Resource Manager, Madam Angeline K. F. Yini, praised the management of the FDA for supporting such a strategic initiative to enhance employee capacity building.
She further encouraged employees to work collaboratively in achieving results and meeting institutional deliverables.
As part of the workshop, participants were enlightened on key objectives and indicators associated with the employees’ appraisal process.
Mr. Parker also incorporated practical exercises and hands-on activities to help employees better understand the importance and application of the performance planning forms.
During the practical sessions, employees gained a clearer understanding of how the appraisal forms are completed and how they are used to assess employee performance and support capacity development.
The workshop yielded positive results, as regional employees commended the Human Resource Division of the Authority for organizing such an important initiative. Participants said, the training not only improved their understanding of performance planning, but also enhanced their long-term appreciation of its effectiveness and relevance within the institution.
