‘Face-Lift domestic airports In Liberia’ -Sen. Chie Stresses Need
The Grand Kru County Senator Albert Tugbeh Chie has stressed the need to revamp and rehabilitate domestic airports in Liberia. The Movement with Integrity for National Development (MIND) has quoted the Grand Kru County Senator’s communication to the Plenary of the Liberian Senate to highly consider enhancing the movement of Liberians through domestic flight around the leeward counties. MIND noted that the communication of Senator Chie to address issues surrounding Liberia Domestic Airport Authority (LDAA) in revamping LDAA and rehabilitating the various airport in the leeward counties. MIND maintained that traveling by air, it is essential to foster major economic activities and developments in the leeward counties, noting that the Lawmakers would visit their people regularly in comfort rather than driving long hours on the roads. MIND pointed out that Senator Chie’s communication should be given serious attention by the relevant Senate Standing Committees on Transport, Public Work, Way and Means, Finance and Budget to ensure that domestic flight has revamp in the country. MIND acknowledged that the Former Pro-tempore of the Liberian Senate communication revealed the promotion of tourism through domestic flight and strengthen economic activities in these counties. MIND explained that the Senate Committees should engage the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) to understand issues surrounding the LDAA that would help to. address revamping and rehabilitating domestic airports in Liberia. MIND said Senator Chie’s communication highlighted the deplorable status of domestic airports and the need to target them require urgency through the National Budget allotments for rehabilitation. MIND cited that this will encourage investor to invest in the domestic airport sector of Liberia and also strengthen the promotion of tourism. MIND lauded the Grand Kru County Senator Chie for looking in the direction of revamping and rehabilitating local airline development in Liberia since it has been dysfunctional during the 1990s. MIND issued the statement in Monrovia over the weekend as Senator Chie communication was read in Plenary in the Chamber of the Liberian Senate on Tuesday at Capitol Building.
