Sinoe County Senator Crayton Oldman Duncan, on Tuesday, October 14, delivered a message at the Senate opening when he criticized his colleagues for their “failure to effectively serve the Liberian people.”
Ducan demanded urgent accountability in governance.
In his open address, Duncan spoke of the gravity of their responsibilities, adding: “The senate floor is not a ground to joke. Our major problem is ourselves; we that represent our people.”
Duncan remarks highlighted a growing sentiment among the public regarding the inefficiencies, and shortcomings in the current political landscape.
He did not shy away when he called out both the legislature, and the Executive Branch for allowing party politics to overshadow their primary duty.
He said the trend where laws passed by the government frequently remain unenforced.
In another development, Ducan blasted the Executive for their failure “to enforce the laws they are made, they do not enforce these laws.”
He underscored the need for a more disciplined approach to governance.
Meanwhile, Duncan however, expressed his disappointment for limited employment opportunities, and the environmental degradation caused by illicit mining operations in his county.
