A 24-year-old truck driver, Abraham Kamara, has been arrested for reportedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

The incident was reported in Kanosas Dorrobo, Karluway District, Maryland County on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Kamara was transporting crushed rock to Glofaken to construct the new administrative building when his truck accidentally went off the bridge.

He spent hours trying to recover the vehicle, and eventually asked one resident, Bartholomew Chiyon, if he could spend the night in the community.

Kamara returned a few days later, around 8 p.m., and again asked to spend the night at Mr. Chiyon’s residence, where he reportedly raped the girl.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, especially in cases involving Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

LNP officers are meanwhile, handling the case “professionally.”

The incident has sparked concerns about safety and protection for children in the area.

LNP have urged locals to remain calm and allow the investigative process to proceed.

Meanwhile, the 14-year-old survivor has been admitted for medical attention at the nearby clinic, awaiting official reports from nurses in charge of her treatment.
