Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillion, has sharply criticized the joint security for an “unnecessary delay in the investigation into the seizure of cocaine valued at approximately US$19.2 million.”

Dillion accused security authorities of “misleading the public about the progress of the case.”

He argued investigators that possess sufficient evidence to move forward with prosecutions.

Dillion insisted that the seized cocaine itself constitutes the “fruit of the crime” and provides a solid basis for criminal charges against those directly linked to the illegal operation.

He claimed that security agencies have already identified the warehouse in which the drugs were stored, as well as individuals responsible for keeping the narcotics before they were transported to the airport for whatever reason.

He further maintained that investigators have identified the business entity responsible for transporting the drugs from the warehouse to the airport.

Dillion questioned why no decisive legal action has been taken against those connected to the trafficking network.

He contended that if the owners, or operators of the warehouse refuse, or fail to identify the actual owners of the seized drugs, the law should reasonably presume that those exercising custody and control over the warehouse bear responsibility for the narcotics found on the premises.

He meanwhile, called on the Ministry of Justice, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), and the Liberia National Police (LNP) to immediately arrest, and charge the warehouse owners with illegal possession of cocaine, obstruction of justice, criminal conspiracy and criminal facilitation.

He urged prosecutors to take the suspects before the courts without further delay, and pursue the matter under the full weight of the law.

He adds: “Justice must be served without fear or favor.”

He also emphasized the need for investigators to pursue any additional suspects uncovered during the court proceedings.
