Cultural Ambassador To Spotlight Heritage At UNESCO Meeting
Liberia’s Ambassador for Art and Culture, Kekura Malawala Kamara, departed Monrovia on Saturday, May 3, 2025, to participate in the 5th Meeting on Experience Sharing on UNESCO Issues in Siva, Turkey.
The gathering, according to the scheduled for May 5-7, 2025, will center on the critical themes of “tangible and intangible cultural heritage and national heritage.”
Amb. Kamara stated that the opening session on May 5th will focus on outlining the meeting’s objectives and agenda. The second day, May 6th, will feature a significant student colloquium organized by Stiva University. This session aims to foster greater understanding and appreciation of cultural and national heritage among students from African nations and Turkey.
The meeting is being hosted by the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO and will serve as a platform to explore potential avenues for collaboration between African countries and Turkey on various UNESCO initiatives.
Kamara conveyed Turkey’s anticipation that the gathering will yield meaningful outcomes.
The final day, May 7th, will include a social program offering participants the chance to visit and experience cultural and national heritage sites recognized on the prestigious World Heritage List.
Amb. Kamara expressed his gratitude to both the Turkish and Liberian governments for facilitating his participation in this important meeting.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to exploring opportunities for further promoting Liberia’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.
