Conflicting Accounts Erupt Over Drug Suspect Released

Fresh developments have emerged in the case of Asha Bangoura, who was arrested recently in River Gee County with 60 plates of compressed marijuana.
The case has sparked widespread public discussion amid conflicting reports about the suspect’s current status.
River Gee County Attorney, Counselor Daniel T.K. Dweh, said, defense lawyer had formally requested that the case be transferred to the 7th Judicial Circuit Court for hearing.
Dweh concern grew out of rumors that the suspect has been released under the cover of darkness by unknown individuals.
Dweh: “If Asha is free, or has been granted bail, it is not to our knowledge as the judicial authorities in the county.”
Despite Dweh’s statement, reports have circulated in Fish Town that suspect Bangoura was previously remanded at the Fish-Town Central Prison, but has since been seen released.
According to one source, an LDEA officer (not named) confide that, he personally saw Asha Bangoura walking ups in Monrovia.”
The officer also claimed that LDEA personnel in the county were not notified of any suspect being released.
According to report, there has been no official confirmation from the judiciary, or the LDEA headquarters regarding the reported release, or the legal status of the accused.
Dweh’s office said, it is awaiting further directives from the 7th Judicial Circuit Court regarding the transfer request.
The case continues to draw public attention as residents have called for transparency, and due process in the handling of drug-related offenses in the county.
