BCU Leadership Transitioned

 Bong County University (BCU) is to inaugurate its newly elected student leadership on Friday, October 9.

The event followed student elections that was held on June 23.

The incoming administration, elected under the Student Progressive Congress (SPC), is to formally take over from the outgoing Student Unification Party/Student Democratic Alliance (SUP-STUDA) administration headed by Student Council President Alfred Kollie.

All seven candidates fielded by the SPC were declared winners after defeating their respective opponents in the university-wide elections.

The elected officials were subsequently certified on August 5, during a ceremony held in the conference hall of the university President’s Office.

The certification ceremony brought together university administrators, members of the independent election commission, students, journalists and other invited guests.

BCU President Dr. Alfredson W. Taikerweyah, will witness the transfer of authority as president-elect Soko Amedio Brown, and other elected student leaders take the oath of office.

The inauguration is expected to attract government officials, university administrators, lawmakers, students and other stakeholders.

Nimba County Senator Nya D. Twayen will deliver the keynote address, while Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye is expected to serve as chief launcher.

Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, Bill McGill Jones, will serve as co-launcher.

Edward Wormen Karfiah will serve as the installing officer, while Jeremiah C. Sulunteh, Chairman of the Bong County University Board, will serve as the blessing officer.

Members of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, and other dignitaries have also been invited to attend the ceremony.

The inauguration will be followed by a sporting fanfare at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga. The sporting activities will feature kickball and football matches between teams from BCU and Cuttington University.
