Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs, a self- proclaimed Russian trained Assassin, has been pulled over by the Liberia National Police to its Headquarters to face interrogation over his threatening remarks against Montserrado District #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah. In a recent recording provided by Rep. Kolubah to journalists, Assistant Minister Mike Jabateh was heard on audio threatening that the Liberian Government would kill Rep. Kolubah, if he does not desist from raining insults on the Liberian Presidency. Though Rep. Kolubah has been vocal on the current administration, at times being rude, he played a key role in making sure that the Unity Party of President Joseph Boakai Sr. was elected during the 2023 general elections. Rep. Kolubah constant criticisms of the UP administration has resulted to threats from top government officials and attempts by individuals believed to be supporters of the government to dull his reputation to the citizenry. On Monday, July 22, Representative Kolubah posted on his social media page that his “base” at his Old Road residence had been raided by officers of the Liberia National Police, supposedly due to his critical stance against the Boakai-led government. Following that, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a phone conversation between Assistant Minister Jabateh and Representative Kolubah surfaced on social media. In the recording, the Assistant Minister introduced himself before making a threatening remark to kill Representative Kolubah if he did not stop insulting President Boakai. The call as observed by this outlet was initiated by Representative Kolubah who started by saying: “Hello, hello.” Assistant Minister Jabateh responded: “Honorable Yekeh Kolubah, this is Mike Jabateh.” Representative Kolubah replied: “Yes Mike, you were calling me yesterday, and I just missed your call again. How are you, sir?” “Honorable Yekeh Kolubah, let me tell you something, I don’t want to lie to you. I’m a trained man from Russia; I spent two years in Russia. If you continue to insult the President, calling the President all types of names, I swear to Allah, we (government) will bring missionaries to kill you. If it doesn’t happen, don’t trust me. If it doesn’t happen, call me a Mandingo dog. If you continue to insult the President, we will kill you, I swear to God, try it.
