Bong County University (BCU) has acquired 20 computer central processing units (CPUs), 39 monitors, computer accessories, and four air conditioners.

The items are for the College of Information Technology to improve practical learning, and strengthen technology education.

The acquisition is expected to increase students’ access to computer-based instruction, and create better conditions for teaching, and learning as the university continues to expand its academic facilities.

The equipment was acquired following a request from the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Ridwan Mansaray, who called for additional resources to strengthen practical instruction, and improve the learning environment.

BCU Vice President for Administration, James Saybay, recommitted the administration to improve academic facilities, and provide students with the tools needed to develop practical technological skills.

Saybay said, the newly acquired computers will support the establishment of four additional computer laboratories, thus increasing the total number of computer laboratories from two to six.

The expansion is expected to provide students with more opportunities to practice their lessons, improve their computer proficiency, and gain hands-on experience in different areas of information technology.

The additional laboratories will also address the demand for computer facilities as more students pursue technology-related courses.

Beyond the computers, the university has also acquired four air conditioners to improve conditions in the learning facilities.

The investment comes as BCU continues to strengthen academic programs, and improve facilities for the growing enrollment.

With an estimated enrollment of 4,000 students, the university faces increasing demands for teaching resources, classroom space, and modern learning equipment.

As digital technology becomes increasingly important in the different sectors, access to functional computer laboratories can help students develop skills relevant to further education.

The development marks another step in BCU to strengthen technology-based education.
