Senate Committee Assesses Healthcare Delivery
By Emmanuel S. Koffa
The Senate Committee on Health, led by its Chairperson, Dabah M. Verpilia, has conducted a monitoring tour of health facilities, and selected communities in Grand Kru County.
Members of the Committee assessed healthcare delivery, and identified challenges affecting access to essential medical services.
The delegation visited Rally Time Hospital, Barclayville Health Center, and Gbalakpo Clinic.
At those centers, the team engaged health workers, and community members on the conditions of healthcare services, and the needs for local communities.
The monitoring exercise provided an opportunity for lawmakers. They gained firsthand insight into the realities confronting healthcare providers, and patients.
For many communities, access to reliable healthcare is critical, especially for pregnant women in the hard-to-reach areas.
Key areas that required attention during the assessments were availability of essential medicines, medical equipment, qualified health personnel, adequate funding, and reliable logistical support.
The tour also comes amid preparations for deliberations on the 2027 national budget to create an opportunity for lawmakers to consider the needs of health facilities, and the communities they serve when reviewing national healthcare priorities.
