The Presidential Special Initiative, has donated assorted educational materials to schools in Grand Kru County.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the ministries of Gender, Education, and State for Presidential Affairs.
The distribution exercise, which began on Monday, October 5, benefited Barclayville Central High School, George Toe Washington Elementary School, Gbuken Public School, A.A. Hoff School, Rachel Henry School, Sam J. Nyeswah School, and Thomas K.F. Seedee Elementary School.
Additional schools are expected to benefit from the ongoing exercise.
The donation was made possible through a contribution from Reverend Trevor Cockings, Chief Executive Officer of HIS Charities, an international humanitarian organization based in the United Kingdom, and a longtime friend of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
The distribution ceremony was hosted on the campus of Barclayville Central High School.
Head of the presidential special initiative, Madam Mamasa D. Kamara, represented Pres. Boakai at the ceremony.
Madam Kamara said, the materials are distributed to schools in all eight administrative districts.
She explained how the materials intend to support students, particularly those from underprivileged communities.
She emphasized the need for the items to reach their expected beneficiaries.
Madam Kamara urged school authorities, and those involved in the distribution process, to ensure that the materials are properly delivered to the students, and institutions.
The initiative is part of efforts to provide educational support to students, and vulnerable communities, particularly in counties where access to basic educational materials remains a challenge.
Meanwhile, several students and teachers have expressed appreciation to Pres. Boakai, the Ministry of Education for the donation.
They said, the gesture came at the time that coincided with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day on October 5.
They also described the materials as timely support for schools, and students.
