Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia Kruah, has criticized recent comments by Lone Star National Mobilization Chairman.
Madam Kruah described Luther Tarpeh’s remarks as potentially divisive, and inconsistent with the unifying purpose of mobilizing support for the national football team.
She made her position known in a post on her official Facebook page, where she openly disagreed with Tarpeh’s characterization of some of his critics, and said, she intends to engage him directly over the matter.
Madam Kruah said, the position of Tarpeh should not become another platform for political confrontation, particularly at a time when Liberians are expected to rally behind the Lone Star regardless of political affiliation.
“The role of mobilization chair is not meant to be divisive.”
She said, the position should serve as a bridge between politicians, and ordinary Liberians, who support the national team.
Madam Kruah warned against allowing football mobilization to degenerate into a political contest, saying: “The situation cannot be another CDC vs UP moment.”
