Anderson Launches Back-to-School Outreach

Aspiring Representative of Montserrado County District #9, Sie D. Anderson, has launched a community-based back-to-school outreach.
The outreach aims to support school-going children, and help parents meet some of the basic educational needs of their children.
The initiative, which was hosted on Sunday, September 13, brought excitements, and smiles to students, and parents as Anderson distributed essential school supplies to children in several communities.
The outreach targets children in communities, including West Point, Lakpazee, Old Matadi Estate, People United Community, 20th Street, New Matadi, and Fredericks’ Island, with additional communities. It is expected to benefit as the program progresses.
Anderson: “About 50 students from each targeted community expected benefited from the initial phase of the initiative. Some of them received school materials as they return to the classroom.
The materials, included book bags, copybooks, pencils, and other basic learning supplies, providing direct assistance to families facing financial pressures associated with sending their children back to school.
Anderson said, the initiative intends to encourage children to return to school with renewed confidence while helping parents reduce some of the costs associated with purchasing basic educational materials.
Supporters of Anderson welcomed the back-to-school initiative. They described the distribution of school materials as a practical investment in the educational future of children in District #9.
