‘NIMBO Can Transform Itself Into Registered Political Party’
By: Samuel Flomo, Jr.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Thomas P. Fallah, has put the ruling Unity Party on notice, warning its leadership against underestimating the National Independent Movement for Boakai (NIMBO)
Fallah issued the warning during the ongoing Unity Party and allied political groups’ Strategic Retreat in Gbarnga, Bong County, where members of the ruling party and its political partners are assessing their relationship and discussing strategies ahead of the 2029 general elections.
The Deputy Speaker cautioned Unity Party leaders against interpreting NIMBO’s decision to work with the ruling party as a sign of political weakness.
He argued that NIMBO’s continued support for the Boakai administration should instead be viewed as a demonstration of its commitment to the governing coalition and the political interests it shares with the Unity Party.
Fallah stressed that NIMBO deserves recognition as a serious political partner and should not be treated as an insignificant organization simply because it currently operates as a movement rather than a fully registered political party.
According to him, NIMBO possesses the political potential to transform itself into a registered political party, potentially changing the political dynamics ahead of future elections.
He further suggested that the movement could demonstrate its political strength in the “not-too-distant future,” sending a direct message to Unity Party leaders that NIMBO’s current alliance should not be mistaken for political dependence.
Fallah’s remarks highlight the delicate relationship between the Unity Party and the various political organizations that supported President Boakai’s rise to the presidency.
The warning has also come as Liberia’s political actors gradually begin positioning themselves for the 2029 elections, with alliances and political partnerships expected to face increasing scrutiny.
The Gbarnga retreat is aimed at strengthening cooperation among the Unity Party and its allied groups while developing a more coordinated approach to governance and future political activities.
For Fallah, however, maintaining such unity will require the ruling party to recognize the political contributions and ambitions of its partners.
His comments could intensify discussions within the coalition over how allied movements are treated and whether they are being given adequate political recognition.
As NIMBO continues to support the Boakai government, Fallah’s warning signals that the movement expects to be treated as a meaningful force within the coalition—not simply as an electoral vehicle whose importance ends after an election.
The Deputy Speaker’s message ultimately places the Unity Party before a political choice: strengthen its relationship with its allies or risk creating tensions within the coalition ahead of the next major electoral battle.
First of all I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.
I’ve had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out
there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
Thank you!
